COMBUSTIBLE DUST AND NFPA INSPECTIONS
3B Group provides dust collection system filter change and preventative maintenance services, as well as filtration system inspections on combustible dust applications to ensure performance, safety and compliance with National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 652 Requirements.
These NFPA inspections are essential across a wide range of industries where combustible dust has the potential to expose workers to catastrophic explosions capable of causing destruction, injuries, and even death.
Combustible dust, or explosive dust, is defined by Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) as “a solid material. composed of distinct particles or pieces, regardless of size, shape, or chemical composition, which presents a fire or deflagration hazard when suspended in air or some other oxidizing medium.”
Many manufacturing operations process combustible raw materials like agricultural products, chemicals, light metals, and wood. Processing materials in those categories, from grains, sugar, and spices, to paper, charcoal, or cotton, generates combustible dust as a byproduct.
In addition to essential filtration system inspections, we provide other kinds of preventative maintenance, filter changes, and equipment-related services, including:
- Help with selecting the most appropriate industrial air filtration solution from baghouses and cartridges to cyclones and vacuums for dust collection and disposal
- Proper installation and regular maintenance of key filtration system equipment like dust collectors and industrial fans
- Regular filter changes to prevent combustible dust from accumulating in the system, reduce equipment wear from general particulate moving through the system, and keep the surrounding air cleaner and safer for employees
